Role of Media during the Pandemic in Pakistan
“We need to work together to defeat this Pandemic”
I am revisiting this blog post that I wrote in 2020 –
The first human trial of a vaccine to protect against pandemic corona-virus has started in the US.
Four patients received the jab at the Kaiser Permanent research facility in Seattle, Washington, reports the Associated Press news agency.
The vaccine cannot cause Covid-19 but contains a harmless genetic code copied from the virus that causes the disease.
Experts say it will still take many months to know if this vaccine, or others also in research, will work.
I am speculating. I know whoever discovers a cure to this pandemic will be a hero. Although, if this works, then the U.S medicine and research, and the FDA will have my respect.
But, it has not worked, yet. And for that reason, until we find a viable cure? we must not panic. And Take precautions.
Make it a routine:
When you already wash your hands after touching money, and when you enter your house, etc. It becomes easier to follow your routine.
But this will be difficult for people who do not do this as a part of their routine activity. We can find inspiration from the world and in our country as well.

Dear Rameez Qaiser,
Over the past few days, the country has come together to help curb the spread of COVID-19. During this time, the health and safety of our customers and employees remain our utmost priority.
Our contingency plans are ready, and we are making sure that employees and delivery agents are adhering to the strict protective measures recommended by the World Health Organization (“WHO”).
We are doing our best to ensure that you have access to the essentials that you need during this difficult time and have established the following protocols to mitigate the chances of transmission:
We are operating in line with advice from the World Health Organization and local authorities. This makes sure that all appropriate health and hygiene standards are adhered to.
We encourage our customers to follow the general guidelines and further safeguard themselves by washing their hands after receiving their packages.
Additionally, we have instructed our DEX Heroes to disinfect the packages at your doorstep where possible.
2. Deliveries and Collections
Our D.E.X Heroes are regularly washing their hands and have been provided with face masks and gloves to wear when delivering your orders. We are monitoring their health and well being very closely and they are instructed to strictly stay at home if they begin to feel unwell.
Our hubs, vans, and bikes are being disinfected daily and deep-cleaned once a week to maintain the highest levels of cleanliness.
We continue to work very closely with our delivery partners to ensure that all appropriate health and hygiene standards are adhered to.
As per WHO, there is no evidence that banknotes transmit the virus. However, we encourage customers to use digital options available on Daraz (i.e. Credit / Debit Card or Wallets) to avoid any risks. We have also taken measures such as asking our DEX Heroes to wear gloves for safer cash handling at the time of the delivery. Also, as a measure of safety, we would recommend you wash your hands thoroughly after being in contact with banknotes.
4. Stability of prices
We are taking all possible steps to ensure stability in the prices of medical supplies on Daraz. We have issued stern warnings to our sellers not to take advantage of this situation and increase prices. Will not hesitate to take strict action against all offenders including blacklisting them from the platform.
5. Delay in deliveries
We are closely monitoring and working with our logistics team and partners to support sellers with timely deliveries. While there is no delay expected as of now, some deliveries may be affected, and we are working hard to minimize any inconvenience to our customers.
